NB: This is a revisit of our original welcome to the group journal from three years ago, but we thought it was time to say hello again!
Welcome!
CRLiterature has been around for several years now. The aim of this group is to be a central community hub for all things literature, sharing with you as much information, articles, DDs and discussion as possible. It is also an opportunity for you to find other writers, groups and resources. It is owned by the CVs, but run by the community with the support of a small group, mostly former volunteers but also including a mixture of old school and new school deviants too to balance the dynamic and focus. You can share your literature related information through this group, meaning anyone can use it. Be sure to keep an eye on the community events including chat events and weekly discussion polls. It’s an awesome hub, but can be made even more so with your support. If you're not following us yet, please do so!
Who are you?
In the past, we've created a series of questions to get people talking to each other, and this is no different. The purpose of this exercise is to encourage you to interact with others, finding like minded people and sharing information. This is a great opportunity to bolster your watch list and find out new and exciting things! Whether you've been on dA 10 years or 10 minutes, if you have an interest in literature, then this is a good starting point. We encourage you to reply to other people and continue the conversations beyond the questions!
The Questions
1. What is your name or what do you like to be known as?
2. How many years have you been on deviantART?
3. What was the last thing you wrote? (describe it don't just link!)
4. What kind of things do you like writing (genre, style etc)
5. What other things are you into away from writing? (Hobbies etc)
6. What is the day job? (School? Uni? Work? Family?)
7. Which literature groups are you actively part of on dA?
8. What do you want out of the dA literature community? How do you think you can get that?
9. Tell us/ show us something that will make us laugh
10. Ask a question either about literature/community on dA or something you'd like to ask other people (don't sidestep this, it is important to encourage the conversation!)
Is there anything else you would like to share? Thoughts of what could be improved? Random facts? A rant about clerihews? Feel free to continue the conversation!
A Challenge!
It wouldn't be a literature journal without a literature based challenge! Using the following little prompt:
"Glass Jars"
write a drabble (prose) or a Haiku (poem).
Post it as part of your comments! This might be tricky, but please just relax and have a go, it isn't serious, just a bit of fun to get people interacting!
Some final thoughts
I am currently on a training course at work, which is about people and behaviours. Although the course is business related, today we did a very interesting exercise about attitudes and how those attitudes can not only affect others, but affect the likelihood of achievement. If you tell yourself (and others) you're not a good writer, you will bring the attitude of that, and your work will show it. If you believe in your ability, even as a learner, your likelihood of success will increase. We're not encouraging you to be a special snowflake, but to take control of your own destiny with your art. Anyone here who has faced rejection will tell you that even rejection can be positive and help you succeed. Think about it, it makes decent sense.
Finally, please share this journal amongst your groups, your peers and fellow deviants. We'd like to encourage as much participation as possible and do read other's comments and respond. This is your community, make it your home
