Hello. Welcome to another installment of YouInventedMe (https://www.deviantart.com/youinventedme)'s weekly favorites feature (brought to you by PoetryForHumans (https://www.deviantart.com/poetryforhumans))!
These eight pieces are culled from things I've favorited over the previous week. They aren't limited to poems belonging to members of the group, they're just beautiful pieces of writing that I'd like to bring attention to. Please give them a look, and follow the fantastic deviants responsible for them.

Flash Fiction Fridays - Week Four
Hello and welcome to the final week of Flash Fiction Fridays. Before we dive into the last hurdle of the month, I'd love to take a moment to highlight the lovely folks who helped me along the way. Starting with @JessaMar and the lovely folks at @CRLiterature who invited me to join and gave me the opportunity to nurture such a crazy idea. Y'all are amazing, and this community wouldn't be as gorgeous without your help. Thanks to @Zara-Arletis and @Moonbeam13 for upgrading the prizes to the wonderful treasure trove we have. Thank you to these lovely folks who kindly lent their knowledge for this series: @DamonWakes @KiriHearts @Neurotype @SRSmith @Flammenfeder @squanpie @AmehanaRainStarDrago @Down-Flower @WizardandGalaxy @SCFrankles @GDeyke Finally, that YOU. All the lovely folks who've submitted a story. This wouldn't have been such a great series without you. Look at all the stories you submitted last week: Gratitudes aside, who's ready for the last week? Writer

Flash Fiction Fridays - Week Three
Welcome back to week three of “Flash Fiction Fridays” where we tackle the craft of flash fiction by voting extraneous words off the island! Here are last week's stories: Two weeks down and two to go, let's see what we have in store this week! But first! @SRSmith @Neurotype @AmehanaRainStarDrago @SCFrankles @GDeykehave kindly agreed to share some tips with us! Writer Wisdom How do you keep flash short? @SRSmith : Kathy Kachelries, who I fault with starting me down this journey writing flash fiction, once told me 'throw away everything you know you don't need, and half of what you think you do'. She encouraged merciless deleting of cruft early, and it stuck. I'm comfortable with the idea that if I delete something before you've read it, only I will know it's gone, for you it never existed. That makes it easier for me to discard things I used to hold onto. I have also realized that in the middle of no story have I ever stopped and thought 'Damn, if I'd only kept

Flash Fiction Fridays - Week Two
Welcome back to week two of “Flash Fiction Fridays” where we tackle the craft of flash fiction one word at a time! Week one is finished and you've written your first story or maybe you haven't. Maybe your pet ate it. Maybe it gained sentience and ran away. Oh, wait! I have a few right here. Let's take a moment to appreciate these great pieces of flash fiction! Regardless of the fate of last week's story, we'll be tackling creating new ones this week (or shorter ones, if last week's story desperately needs a haircut). Before we start hacking away at our drafts, let’s get some advice from people much better at the art than your's truly. I've asked @neurotype @SRSmith @squanpie @Down-Flower @SCFrankles to share their process for matching concepts to shorter lengths and how they cut longer narratives down to size. Writer Wisdom How do you choose what stories to keep short and which to expand past the 1,000-word limit? @neurotype : It's all about scope and how much

Flash Fiction Fridays - Week One
Hello, and welcome to the first installment of “Flash Fiction Fridays” where we dive into the oft-mysterious and elusive land of flash fiction! By the end, you, too, will be able to show off your amazing flash fiction skills with a couple of pieces of your own! Before we dive in, let’s start with the basics. How do you start flash fiction? Are there methods that make the craft easy? @DamonWakes @Flammenfeder @WizardandGalaxy @GDeyke and @AmehanaRainStarDrago have agreed to help me explore these questions today. Writer Wisdom How long have you been writing flash fiction, and what attracted you to this form of storytelling? How did you get started? @DamonWakes: I've been writing flash fiction since July 1st, 2012. Someone on the deviantART forums told me about it on June 27th that year and I signed up on a whim, not even really sure that I'd see the event through. I've gone on to tackle every single story and challenge for the past eight years and it's more or less responsible for

DD Suggestion Guidelines (Update III)
I'm now a Community Volunteer for Literature, Artisan Crafts, Traditional Art and Synthography (AI) which among other things means that I have the ability to select Daily Deviations. DDs can be an excellent way to showcase the work of lesser-known writers and artists, so I'm counting on you, the community, to send me your suggestions!
For more information about Daily Deviations in general - as well as a handy list of CVs by gallery they're responsible for - check out the official FAQ.
